Horner refuses to accept that McLaren may be quickerRed Bull director Christian Horner was less than magnanimous in defeat after the Australian GP, claiming that his team had simply underperformed, and denying that McLaren are now faster. "We were right on same pace as the McLarens and could have been faster. Overall it was a good recovery. I think we underperformed rather than McLaren being overly strong and that is the story - we can prove it next time we race."19 March 2012

That's what I love about Red Bull, annoying in victory and totally ungracious in defeat. And of course, that charming sense of entitlement.

Well Fernando, I would be the first to congratulate McLaren if we thought they actually beat us, which they didn't, we just defeated ourselves in a sense.

While it would not be typical of the McLaren group to gloat in victory, we would like to remind Red Bull that Jenson was in fuel economy mode and actually could have gone a lot faster.

I've spoken to Adrian and he has assured me that it is not possible that a car designed by him and driven by perfect Seb could be outraced or outqualified by anyone, unless they are cheating, which everyone else is clearly doing.

Wow, somebody's in denial. Hopefully the finger-waving, cringey radio messages, and hilarious "impromptu" post race parties will be on hold for a while.

Adrian and I are committing every resource possible to regain our dominance and ensure that perfect Seb will be waving that finger for me in no time.

Strewth, what about helping me Christian, I put in a bonzer drive to finish just behind Lewis, and I bloody beat Seb in qualy.

Adrian is of the opinion that give our strict adherence to resource restriction we are forced to focus on the lead car to make perfect Seb dominant again. Remember you are a valued team-member Mark, and we are indeed satisified with a respectable recovery drive by the sister car to a non- podium finish.

Mark is good at recoveries, recoveries from bad qualifying positions, recoveries from bad starts, recoveries from cycling accidents. Ha ha! Yes! Yabba-dabba-do!

As a proven champion myself, who is repeatedly scuppered by the mediocrity of the equipment at his disposal, I can empathise with the frustration of not achieving your true potential. I am resigned to the fact that motorsport historians will refer to this stint as the formative but unsuccessful period of my F1 career.

With any luck they might just refer to it as your brief F1 career. By the way, a proven champion, at what exactly?

Well Michael, most recently I added a DTM title to an already impressive CV which also featured the 2006 Formula Three Euroseries title.

I tend to count championships that people care about, the fact the DTM is willing to babysit that embarrassment of a "brother" I have says it all about the calibre of that series.

Yeah Dannii, you drive for Mercedes, you're a Schumacher, except you're a bit like those watches you can buy at a flea-market with Rolex on them.

Ralf was just one of a number of high calibre drivers I defeated. I am also constantly reminded that rather unsurprisingly I asserted my superiority over Sebastian Vettel on my way to the 2006 F3 title, made notable by the fact we were driving identical equipment.

Correction, we are constantly reminded of it, by you. Shame you're tooling around in that Force India, I think I might enjoy a chance to Barrichello you into a pit-wall at some stage.

Far from just making up the numbers in Melbourne, yet again it was left to me to put in a mature drive to rescue the teams fortunes, precociously delivering a valuable point, in the process displaying a maturity and race-craft which belies my youth. My teammate sadly confirmed my reservations about him by merely confirming his reputation as a crasher.

I was just unlucky on Sunday, and you're the only one who thinks I'm a crasher. You're making me angry Paul, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
